Position Overview

Position Marketing Statement: The Corrections Maintenance Craftsman at Hill Correctional Center is responsible for performing maintenance work at a journeyman level in repair of facility buildings, equipment and machinery, as well as monitoring individuals in custody in performing basic maintenance duties on facility buildings and equipment. We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual with maintenance experience to serve in the role. Essential Functions

  • Performs maintenance work at a journeyman level in the repair and maintenance of the facility buildings, equipment, grounds, vehicles, and machinery.
  • Monitors individuals in custody in performing basic maintenance duties on facility buildings and equipment.
  • Maintains count of tools and equipment utilized during shift.
  • Assists other Corrections Maintenance Craftsman with assigned duties and fills in during their absence.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school.
  • Requires experience necessary to qualify as a journeyman in one of the maintenance or automotive repair trades.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working with institution rules, regulations, and requirements for the individuals in custody.
