Sr. Manager, Software Engineering- Remote, USA

Compensation: $160-200k per year. You are eligible to a Short-Term Incentive Plan with the target at 15% of your annual earnings, terms and conditions apply.    Sr. Manager, Software Engineering- Remote, USA     We are seeking a Sr. Manager to lead a team of software engineers working on PHP/Symfony full-stack web applications in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This role requires a strong technical leader who can drive development efforts, mentor engineers, and lead the adoption of a third-party application in a cloud environment, helping gradual transition from our legacy reporting applications.   Essential Functions  

• Lead and mentor a small team of software engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
• Architect, develop, and enhance PHP/Symfony-based applications to support scientific workflows for variant identification, ranking, and reporting.
• Spearhead the integration of a third-party application in a cloud environment, ensuring smooth data flows and system interoperability.
• Work closely with business systems analysts (BSAs) and stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into well-defined technical solutions.
• Guide the team in designing scalable and maintainable solutions while ensuring system performance and security best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, resolve bugs efficiently, and improve system reliability.
• Advocate for best practices in software engineering, code quality, and automated testing.
• Provide clear, accurate technical insights to cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on full-stack application development.
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead by example and mentor engineers.
• Strong expertise in cloud-based solutions and experience integrating third-party software into existing systems.
• Extensive experience in building service-oriented architectures and designing RESTful API services to support scalable and maintainable applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges efficiently.
• Effective communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience and familiarity working in PHP/ Symfony, and or Java or Go.
• Experience working with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) and NoSQL technologies (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Elastic Search etc.).

 Preferred

• Master's degree
• Experience in scientific, genomics, or healthcare-related applications is a plus.
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying cloud-native applications on public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
