OVERVIEW:
Founded in 1979 in direct response to rising rates of hunger and homelessness in North San Diego County, Interfaith Community Services works to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness by Helping People Help Themselves. Interfaith is the most comprehensive social services agency in North County, providing both immediate safety net services and long-term, life-changing programs designed to meet the holistic needs of people in crisis. Together, in partnership with 250+ diverse faith communities, more than 650 recurrent volunteers, and a growing staff of over 200, Interfaith provides a safe haven and pathway towards self-sufficiency for more than 17,000 community members annually.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: This position oversees the Grant & Per Diem (GPD) program at Interfaith Community Services (ICS) within North County. Responsible for grant compliance, supervises staff, and performs related work as required supporting the mission of Interfaith Community Services Identify, engage and link underserved populations with mental health services
- ? Supervises all program activities including outreach, enrollment, placement, training and follow-up for VA grants to insure that all projected goals are met for GPD programs
- ? Provides assistance to management team in grant writing and program development
- ? Assists in providing marketing strategies and advertising for VA Programs
- ? Establishes connections and relationships with appropriate private and public veteran service agencies
- ? Coordinates with the VA to ensure program compliance and enhance the collaborative efforts in grant activities
- ? Consistently monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods; assesses and monitors staff workloads, and identifies opportunities for improvement
- ? Provides leadership to program staff; conducts meetings and trainings to ensure program compliance and to enhance staff skills
- ? Establishes connections with appropriate private and public agencies, including departments within the agency to best meet the needs of the clients and the programs
- ? Utilizes Coordinated Entry System
- ? Collects and reports program data, including but not limited to VA and HMIS reporting and funders’ required data
- ? Attends and participates in program, agency and community meetings and trainings
- ? Provides monthly/quarterly/annual reports as scheduled to Associate Director
- ? Completes and verifies monthly/quarterly/annual reports as scheduled to the Contract Administrators, funders, Associate Director and Department Director
- ? Monitors all staff job performance, completes evaluations, ensures on-going staff training and development, and participates in the hiring of staff for department
- ? Monitors all in-house databases (Excel and HMIS, CIVI and ETO) ensuring timely and correct data input
- ? Provides assistance to the Director in grant writing and program development and special projects
- ? Performs additional duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will be responsible for supervising staff within the department. S/he provides daily supervision of tasks as well as direction and leadership to the team. S/he is responsible for making hiring and firing decisions, conducting performance evaluations, and identifying and promoting professional development opportunities. Identifies areas where volunteers are needed, and works with the Volunteer Coordinator in recruiting new volunteers to help further its capacity to serve clients.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION ?
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field required ?
- 3+ years of experience working in a Social Services or nonprofit setting required ?
- 1+ years of experience in a supervisory role or increasing responsibility required ?
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred

- Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients
- Ability to provide services within a trauma informed, person first perspective.
- Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of resources in North County San Diego
- Ability to identify problems, and research and recommend solutions
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be highly organized and demonstrate attention to detail
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple deadlines and working effectively under pressure, using independent judgment to produce quality work under time constraints
- Demonstrated experience working with a collaborative team
- Working Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
