As RN in the Emergency Department (ED), you will help patients feel comfortable, at ease and supported while receiving treatment. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care and effective life-saving treatment. A caregiver in this role works PRN (as needed) days from 6:45 a.m.  – 7:15 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Provide direct nursing care. 

• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.  

• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.  

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments. 

• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  

• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 

• Educate patients and their families.   

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification upon hire or within orientation period 

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon or within six months of hire 

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
