JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Interns will work under the direct supervision of a Penn State Extension educator to design, implement, and evaluate programs, publications, videos, events, and other related activities. Interns will also lead a project or initiative specific to the assigned Extension Unit.
Food, Families, and Health: focuses on promoting health and well-being through programs that center on personal, family, and intergenerational relationships; human development, nutritious eating; strengthening families; and healthy aging.
Food Safety and Quality: provides science-based food safety and quality education, research, and outreach activities for farmers, food processors, food handlers, and consumers.
Typical intern duties include:
- Writing educational articles for the Extension website
- Creating social media posts
- Assisting in the delivery of in-person and online educational programs
- Development of educational publications
- Development of Learn Now videos
Positions can be up to 40 hours per week for the period of employment, to be at most 12 weeks. Positions will be located all over the state depending on educator's needs, or varies depending on preceptor availability.
This job may require that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check may be required in addition to standard background checks.
