Job Description
The Associated Students of the University of Nevada is made up of every undergraduate student at the University of Nevada. ASUN provides a means for students to voice concerns and address issues at the university, local, state, national, and international levels. ASUN is searching for a dedicated undergraduate student for the Legislative Clerk role.
Responsibilities
Serve as roll vote recorder for Senate Meetings on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm as well as Senate Convenings, which occur each second Wednesday in April closest to the 15th
Record voice votes for legislation in debate during Senate
Keep track of edits made to legislation during Senate, as well as the order in which legislation gets passed
Reformat passed legislation into a signable document to be sent to the Speaker and Senate Secretary or Speaker, Senate Secretary, and President in cases of Binding Resolutions and Bills, respectively
Utilize Adobe Acrobat to check each legislation document for accessibility standards
Utilize DocuSign to send legislation to respective parties
Upon a legislation signed and enrolled, send copies to people referred to within document
Upload signed legislation onto ASUN website
Upon the return of a bill by the President due to a veto, note in a journal the date and time of the return of a bill and refer to Speaker if not notified already
Make edits to Governing Documents as dictated by passed and signed legislation and upload to ASUN website
This ASUN Student Leader position is an appointed member of the student government. By applying for this position, you are considered a candidate for the position and must meet the requirements of eligibility for the office for which they are running as stated in the ASUN Constitution and the ASUN Statutes of the Associated Students. Applying for this position does not automatically employ you into this position and the candidate must partake in being interviewed by peers and to be appointed by the ASUN Senate to this position. During my tenure of this appointed position, I agree to adhere to the following guidelines:
Maintain a 2.75 GPA and be enrolled in at least 7 credits
Must have a declared major in the college you wish to represent
Perform all duties and instructions outlined by the ASUN Governing Documents Uphold the Nevada Student Code of Conduct Meet all deadlines set forth
Attend all required meetings and trainings Work scheduled hours
Properly complete and submit HR paperwork on time
Assist in the promotion of the mission of ASUN and Nevada Behave in a manner that is ethical, maintaining a high level of integrity
Other duties as called upon by my position
I understand not adhering to the items outlined in this agreement or what is stated in the ASUN Governing Documents, my position may be subject disciplinary action by the ASUN Judicial Council and/or the University of Nevada.
