Compensation:
- Base Salary: $120-140k/year
- Eligible for Annual Bonus
Purpose of the position
Acts as Legal Business Partner for Kalmar AMER and LATAM Market Areas, as the first point of contact in all legal matters for the business, and ensures their issues are solved efficiently and with a high quality. Actively drive continuous development and implementation of processes, practices and tools used within Kalmar Legal.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Responsible for legal support in contract negotiations and reviews as well as dispute and litigation management in North and Latin America.
- Establish strong relationships and trust with key business stakeholders and proactively support their decision making from legal perspective and implement legal policies and processes in conjunction with other Kalmar lawyers.
- Responsible for implementing legal processes, practices and controls within AMER and LATAM Market Areas and educating the organization with legal matters.
- Function as US law specialist in Kalmar legal team: provide US law support to other Kalmar lawyers as well as Cargotec lawyers.
What you’ll need to succeed
Education, Certifications and/or Licenses:
- US or International law degree from accredited/reputable University
- Candidate must possess a license to practice law in the United States (must have passed State Bar Exam and have a current state license to practice law)
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of broad business law experience in a global environment, preferably from a heavy industry sector or a global industrial firm with European parent company, or a law firm.
Competencies:
- Fluent spoken and written English, bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
- Understanding and experience from project business, equipment sales, services and software licensing and willingness to learn more
- Expertise in contracts and litigation management and general business law matters (competition and corporate law issues, digitalization, business compliance, M&A, IPR etc.)
