The Senior Financial Accountant position is responsible for supporting the Alternative investment Team within Global Wealth Asset Management Accounting & Reporting SSC Group. The role will primarily focus on the Alternative Invested Asset, including partnerships, project finance and infrastructure investments, fund investments as well as timber & Agricultural investments. The individual will be responsible for preparing quarterly calculations of estimated income and audit adjustments, journal entry preparation; conduct financial, accounting and economic analyses for the Business Units and other partners, assist in the annual audits of these investments as well as preparing reports for Ad-hoc requests.
Responsibilities
Prepare quarterly estimated income adjustments, which includes the review of quarterly financial statements and calculation of the income allocations.
Prepare annual audit true-up adjustments for the Alternative Assets, as applicable. The calculations are based on the review of the audited financial statements. Maintain the audit-log with actual results.
Assist with the monthly & quarterly pricing/market value preparation & reporting.
Assist in the monthly/quarterly close for each framework (IFRS, GAAP, NAIC and Tax), as applicable.
Prepare quarterly account reconciliations for each accounting framework.
Assist in the planning and annual audit process for both our internal and external auditors. Timely follow up on requests and maintain list of open items, as applicable.
Respond in a time manner to the various ad-hoc requests that are received.

What we are looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/ Accounting designation CPA preferred.
Minimum of 5 - 7 years in the investment/ insurance industry ideally with experience in partnership accounting.
Knowledge of IFRS/GAAP/NAIC in relation to investment accounting and reporting would be an asset.
Experience with Ledger systems (i.e. Lawson), as well as knowledge of internal controls & SOX would be helpful.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to collaborate in team/group setting, at various levels.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with all levels of the organization.
Attention to detail; and solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent PC skills (especially Excel, Power BI, and Word).
Motivated self-starter, with ability to multi-task completing responsibilities/priorities to meet tight deadlines
