Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB (What are the end results or objectives of this position? Why does the job exist?)

· The Locker Cashier is responsible to work 12 hours per week and help with the day-to-day operations of The Locker store, including the Copy Center and Mailroom.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (What duties are required for the position to exist? Estimate the percentage of time spent in each.)

· To help students, faculty, staff, and outside patrons with store purchase and copy services offered.

· To operate the POS for The Locker, Mailroom, and Copy Center purchases.

· To oversee the daily appearance, organization, and cleanliness of The Locker and keep the store restocked.

· To prepare and complete copy center orders.

· To distribute mail and packages to students living on campus.

· To answer phones and respond to emails.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Responsibilities/important duties performed occasionally or in addition to the essential duties of the position.)

· Additional responsibilities may be designated by the Locker Supervisor or Manager.

· Be available to work extra hours during special events, when needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (Provide the number and type of employees supervised, level of authority to hire and fire or to make recommendations.)

· Detail-oriented.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY (Budgeting responsibilities, approval privileges on purchase orders and check requests, reporting and auditing functions.)

· Take payments through Square.

· Keep track of Copy Center orders and subsequent payments.

· Report any known discrepancies to the Locker Supervisor.

EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT (Within and outside the University)

· Will be the “face” of the Locker – need good personal skills and be able to handle customers well.

· Adhere to modest, neat, and attractive dress code guidelines: No grungy/ripped jeans, sweatpants/yoga pants, or shorts.

· It is preferable for employees to wear SEBTS attire while working, but not required.

· Numerous opportunities for contact with seminary staff, faculty, and students as well as the community.

· Frequent contact with equipment technicians and outside vendors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Walking, lifting, equipment, operation, etc.)

· Must be able to lift 50 lbs – Some lifting of apparel and other items that are shipped to us in boxes and stored on shelves.

· Normal fitness for general office duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT (i.e., necessary travel, unusual work hours, unusual environmental conditions, etc.)

· Must be able to work when The Locker is open: M-F 9-4pm Sat 11-2pm.

· Must coordinate class schedule with Locker Supervisor.

· Must coordinate all time off with Locker Supervisor.

· Ability to take classes at the institution with prior scheduling approval by Locker Supervisor.

  • Required Skills
    • This position is restricted to current SEBTS students and spouses of SEBTS students.
    • Provide customer service with a great attitude and professional demeanor.
    • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Possess integrity, initiative, problem solving, creativity, listening skills, sound judgment, adaptability, planning, and organization skills.
    • Possess computer skills related to the accounting software, Microsoft Office & Excel, and other current applications.

 

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

  • There is no fiscal decision-making related to the Cashier. The Cashier is to receive and process payments and accurately maintain a cash drawer.

 

EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT

  • There is a large volume of students and school staff that are served on a daily basis.
  • This position is the first place many visitors and guests will come into contact with Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Therefore, it should be important that the Cashier receives guests and v
