About the role

Overview

Anne Arundel Dermatology is hiring a full-time Medical Front Desk Receptionist for our dermatology clinic in Millersville, MD. In this role, you will play a vital part in the efficient operation of our practice while helping shape the patient experience through friendly, professional, and attentive interactions. The Medical Front Desk Receptionist coordinates the flow of patients through the office, assists with patient payments, helps with billing and insurance information, schedules appointments, maintains patient charts, and performs various medical office administrative tasks.

 

This position is ideal for candidates with experience as a medical receptionist, front desk coordinator, patient service representative, or medical office assistant.

 

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Monday – Friday schedule with shift times between 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, including one late evening per week until 5:45 PM.

Pay range: $17-21/hr, depending upon experience.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a professional, friendly, and organized individual with strong communication and customer service skills. In this role, you will support the daily operations of our dermatology clinic while creating a welcoming and positive experience for patients.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner upon arrival
  • Check patients in and out for appointments
  • Answer and screen incoming calls and route messages appropriately
  • Schedule appointments, procedures, and referrals
  • Enter and update patient demographics and insurance information in the system
  • Verify patient charts for accuracy and ensure required forms and signatures are complete
  • Collect copays, balances, and other patient payments
  • Track patients in the reception area and communicate with clinical staff regarding patient flow
  • Maintain organized patient records and documentation
  • Process incoming faxes, reports, and correspondence and route to appropriate staff
  • Assist with inventory tracking and product orders as needed
  • Run end-of-day reports and balance payment totals when assigned closing duties
  • Provide support to other team members as needed to ensure smooth clinic operations
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

  • High School Graduate or GED (required). 
  • 1-3 years recent experience as a Medical Receptionist in a clinical or surgical setting (preferred). 
  • Previous experience in Dermatology (preferred)

 

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills. 
  • Knowledge of HIPAA standards. 
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment. 
  • Detail-oriented 
  • Working knowledge of multi-line phone system.   
  • Able to operate standard office equipment (i.e. computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc) 
  • Intermediate computer skills and experience in EMR utilization 
  • Fluent in English.   
  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically.   
  • Ability to travel to and provide coverage for other local offices as-needed. 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Sitting, some standing, stooping and reaching.   
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard.   
  • Correctable vision to 20/20 and hearing within a normal range for telephone contacts.   
  • Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
