The Impact You Will Have 
The Underwriting Technician Team Lead (UT TL), reports directly to the Senior Manager – North America Regional Operations – Specialty Lines. The position requires flexibility when faced with changing and emerging priorities and should welcome direct feedback while providing the same to GBO Leadership. The UT TL will exhibit the ability to work and influence cross functionally and across disciplines to achieve established business goals. Within the role, it is expected the UT TL will work collaboratively and lead conversations, projects, and initiatives within GBO and other areas, all with a keen focus to foster a harmonious process and policy handling environment to support the business and the Allianz Commercial customer base. The UT TL will work alongside Operations Managers/leads as a peer on shared goals, ensuring the achievement and continued consistency in the UT role. The UT TL will have a group of Underwriting Technicians reporting directly to them and will be responsible for their performance, career development, and all other relevant people management responsibilities. This role will also be responsible for the production UT tasks affiliated with the assignment to one Underwriter, at minimum. 

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:  

  • Developing key relationships with underwriting leaders to execute the end-to-end underwriting processes. 

  • Managing a cross-regional team of underwriting technicians in all aspects, such as hiring, performance management, development, schedule coordination and managing the day-to-day operations of the support unit. 

  • Assuming an active role in the implementation of Target Operating Model. 

  • Communicating and collaborating across the organization to provide solutions/recommendations to achieve organizational success. 

  • Tracking and translating quality, timeliness, productivity, and service delivery requirements into individual team, and unit metrics.  

  • Reviewing and managing production and quality control reports and taking appropriate action for improved results. 

  • Ensuring compliance with workflows and procedures. 

  • Working closely with functional and business areas to ensure documented operational processes are understood and implemented consistently. 

  • Reviewing workflows/processes on a semi-annual basis to identify process efficiencies.  

  • Acting as point of contact for Internal Audit, ensuring compliance with internal audit guidelines and assisting with developing responses and action plans in response to audit findings. 

  • Attending underwriting reviews/operational meetings and reporting on operational process changes, regulatory changes, policy booking, policy issuance, or adjustment backlogs.  

  • Proactively maintaining effectiveness when experiencing changes in work responsibilities and environment, adjusting effectively to work within new structure, process requirements, or culture  

  • Collaborating with underwriting on requested individual account service agreements to ensure resources, system capabilities, and time requirements are achievable. 

  • Acting as point of escalation for operations or underwriting staff regarding service issues.  

  • Identifying servicing issues with offshore team and working with the Operations Manager to document the issue, present it to the offshore team, and follow up through resolution.  

  • Attending broker and client meetings as requested by underwriting.  

  • Completing all delegated projects in the manner expected and requested by the Manager.
