About the role

Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.

We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Arcadis is seeking a Staff Geologist/Scientist/Engineer to support our Resilience – Environment team and specifically help to lead and grow the emergency response (aka “Incident Response & Recovery”; IRR) group in the Pacific Northwest area.

    • Note that Arcadis does not perform hazardous material clean-up directly, but rather oversees, manages, or supports those that do
  • Leading environmental investigations and remediation projects (e.g., groundwater monitoring well installations and monitoring, heavy equipment and construction oversight, soil boring logging, sampling, remedial excavation oversight and sampling, utility surveys, site inspections, surface water and/or sediment sampling, etc.)
  • Planning remedial events (e.g., developing work plans, permitting, cost estimates, contracting, scheduling, laboratory coordination, waste management, etc.)
  • Report preparation (e.g., figure generation, data management, technical writing, etc.)
  • Evaluating data to support the development and refinement of conceptual site models and optimizing long-term monitoring programs
  • Ensuring tasks are completed in accordance with all Federal, State, Local, and client-specific health and safety requirements
  • Delegating to and mentoring junior staff on safety and technical topics
  • Field work up to 70% for the first couple of years, mostly regional but some national (expect 6-8 weeks/year out of state)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geological Sciences, Environmental/Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Emergency Management, or a related discipline
  • Personable with excellent communication skills
  • Performs well under pressure. Able to balance full field and office workload
  • Ability to support immediate mobilization to regional job sites as incidents are identified
  • 4-6 years of consulting/remediation experience
  • 4-6 years of field experience, of which emergency response was a component of the work

Preferred Qualifications:
