The Job
 

CNN Photojournalists are responsible for capturing images to illustrate CNN news events and stories. Photojournalists record events and stories to the highest ethical, aesthetic, editorial and technical standards using the latest technology. They are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. A Photojournalist documents a wide array of news events, and their required level of training and experience empowers them to meet CNN standards in their responsibilities and skills. This position requires technical development and experience that will facilitate editorial knowledge, which allows them to handle photography, audio, logistics, and lighting. Photojournalists must be capable of exhibiting strong editorial skills. They are experienced NLE editors capable of independent editorial decision-making. All CNN photojournalists are required to travel for CNN's newsgathering purposes (hostile environments are optional). Must possess a valid US driver's license. Applicants should provide a link to examples of their recent work.

The Daily

• Newsgathering: Demonstrate advanced lighting and photography set-ups. Ensures that all pictures and sound are of highest quality and properly recorded. Able to gather quality pictures and sound as a one-person crew and using technology to edit and transmit material. Learning evolving technologies and concepts and adapting them to field assignments. 
• Logistics: Gather proper gear, set up logistics, travel and ship equipment, and get to the assignment with the proper equipment. 
• Editing/Producing: Demonstrate competent editing both in the field or production center. Use editorial, technical and production skills to produce content for air in English or Spanish language as necessary. Conceptualize with reporters and producers to understand story concepts and provide important feedback to improve on those concepts. Ability to write wire copy and file for CNN's digital outlets. 
• Paperwork: Responsible for accounting of all expenses on corporate credit cards and submitting them in a timely manner per company guidelines; substantiating these expenses is an important part of their jobs. Account for working hours via internal tracking and allocation applications. Keeps all relevant credentials current. 
• Gear maintenance: Maintain all gear including crew vehicles, working with appropriate departments to keep all gear up to date and in working order. Able to trouble-shoot quickly and effectively. 
• Scheduling: Photojournalists are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (except on vacation) 
• Travel: Photojournalists are expected to travel (hostile environments are optional)
