General Notes
The Blanton's Curatorial Administrative Assistant will be a key member of the curatorial department, supporting a dynamic team who develop exhibitions, oversee art acquisitions and gallery displays, and liaise with a large national and international network of artists, donors, gallerists, dealers, scholars and curators. This position will report to the Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs and will work closely with the Curator of Modern and Contemporary art and the Associate Curator of Collections and Exhibitions.
Responsibilities
Process University-required paperwork related to travel and purchasing for department, outside vendors, artists and speakers.
Help manage calendars and schedule meetings (in person and virtual) across departments, draft agendas and create PowerPoint presentations.
Assist with curatorial budget preparation and oversight.
Facilitate communication with Blanton staff and collaborators.
Assist with general research related to collections and acquisitions, including data entry and record maintenance in TMS collection management database.
Work with curators on assigned exhibitions and projects:
Help develop checklists.
Assist with art historical research, writing, and copy editing for labels and other interpretive materials.
Keep track of production schedules and deadlines.
Obtain written documentation for copyright and captions of images for publications, press, and interpretive materials.
Help manage the production of epublications and publications.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Strong administrative skills and experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc).
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced office environment.
Excellent organizational skills.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Strong work ethic.
Creative problem-finding and solving abilities.
Strong technology skills.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Degree in Art History
Three or more years experience in a fast-paced office environment
Salary Range
$40,000
Working Conditions
Will work around normal office equipment
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a work station
