DIRECTOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES, HOSPITAL

Schedule:  Full time; primarily Monday through Friday, 7am-5pm.  More details are available upon interviewing.

Job Summary

As the Director of Environmental Services, you are responsible for managing the environmental Services department within a hospital with an average daily cenus of 160 patients.  You will lead a team of 37 hourly associates and 2 salaried associates including an assistant director and environmental services operations manager. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for department’s financial data and statistics
• Monitoring of unit expenditures
• Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensure the department operates within budget
• Coordinates housekeeping activities with other departments
• Actively communicates with administration and other hospital departments
• Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and supervises functions and activities of the department
• Establishes work standards and work flow
• Establishes and implements policies and procedures for departmental operations
• Encourages and mentor staff creativity and innovation
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies
• Proactive in the achievement of the facility goals and objectives
• Demonstrates quality leadership in meeting performance plans
• Reads, develops, and administers Total Quality Management process

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Three to five years of director level leadership experience preferably in a hospital or related healthcare environment
• Must have environmental services/housekeeping management experience in an acute care hospital or long term care facility
• Floor care experience
• Bachelors degree or equal related experience
• Must have the ability to analyze and interpret financial and other data
• General business acumen
• Excellent interpersonal skills and public speaking skills
• High customer service and client relationship building skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
• Proficient computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), Outlook, E-mail and the Internet
