This is a Full-Time position with set work schedules: (3) 12-hr shifts with four consecutive days off, including differential pay for overnight and/or weekend shifts.

Why PESCM: We are not your typical veterinary hospital.
PESCM is run by managers who have been with the hospital for a decade or more, all promoted from within. We are former nurses and client service staff who understand what employees need, because we’ve been there ourselves: predictable schedules, regular time off, competitive pay, generous benefits, and a nurturing yet professional environment that fosters your growth and success.
We know the winning recipe is making a space for you to do good work and be part of the special kind of team unique to veterinary medicine, where the only way to combat compassion fatigue is to take care of each another.

About PESCM:  PESCM, located in San Rafael, is the only 24/7 veterinary hospital in Marin County, with specialties in Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Neurology, Cardiology, Urgent Care, Emergency, Radiology, and Critical Care. Our mission is to serve pets and people by continually pushing to improve our medicine, our service, our communication, and ourselves.

  • Assist with maintaining the Pharmacy department by keeping it clean and in order.
  • Assist with drug inventory control and management, following all state and federal laws regulating drugs by class and handling protocols.
  • Follow appropriate hospital protocol for filling controlled substances.
  • Explain medications with the owners to assure they understand the doctor’s instructions using excellent customer service skills.
  • Check prescription refill line, keeping daily log of requests and filling prescriptions daily.
  • Pharmacy technicians should be skilled in answering the phone and have basic knowledge of computer and fax functions.
  • Manage the pharmacy log and ensure that refill requests are handled in a timely manner.
  • Assist the front desk as needed during downtime.
  • Special projects as assigned during downtime.

What you will bring:

  • Veterinary industry background and experience with prescription medications
  • Will be expected to learn basic medical terminology
  • Must be efficient, friendly, courteous, and helpful to all clients and coworkers, in all situations
