Why Your Role Matters
The Associate Executive Director (AED) for Out-of-School Time & Camp Programs is a dynamic leader responsible for the day-to-day management and operational excellence of the YMCA’s Out-of-School Time and Summer Camp programs. This role is crucial in ensuring that our programs operate smoothly, meet licensing requirements, and provide a safe and enriching experience for children and their families. By overseeing Program Directors and supporting front-line staff, the AED ensures that all activities align with the YMCA’s mission and core values of youth development.
The AED’s primary focus is on delivering high-quality programming and fostering strong relationships with parents, community members, and local schools while ensuring that resources are utilized efficiently and effectively to support program success. This position drives operational improvements, quality control, and staff development, directly contributing to the overall health and sustainability of the programs. Through the AED's leadership, children experience a nurturing environment where they can grow, learn, and develop while also contributing to the broader YMCA mission of building a stronger, healthier community.

Y Experience Leadership & Results
- Lead and manage all aspects of the Out-of-School Time and Summer Camp Programs to ensure high-quality, child-focused experiences that align with YMCA goals and mission.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the program teams.
- Ensure the programs align with strategic and operational goals, including the establishment of specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that drive success.
- Oversee the hiring, training, and management of program directors and staff, ensuring alignment with YMCA people practices.
- Engage in ongoing coaching and performance management, providing quarterly check-ins and annual reviews to direct reports to track progress and identify development opportunities.
- Oversee the onboarding and mentoring of new Program Directors and key site leaders, ensuring integration with YMCA standards and fostering leadership development.
- Support the development and implementation of staff retention strategies, focusing on mentoring, growth opportunities, and creating a pipeline for internal advancement.
Program Management & Development
- Lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of innovative out-of-school-time and camp programs, ensuring they meet the needs of families and communities.
- Ensure that all programs operate safely and efficiently, in compliance with local regulations and YMCA policies, including child care licensing and quality standards.
- Develop strategies to continually expand and improve program offerings, making adjustments based on participant feedback, community needs, and program outcomes.
- At times, oversee daily program operations at multiple childcare sites, ensuring that staff adhere to and exceed all state, local, and Y health and safety regulations through daily monitoring of programs.
- Oversee the development and implementation of quality control systems across program sites, ensuring alignment with YMCA goals and mission.
- Ensure adherence to curriculum delivery and alignment with youth development best practices by supporting program directors in their program execution.
- Provide strategic guidance for resolving complex staff performance issues, supporting Program Directors to ensure adherence to YMCA and licensing policies.
- Oversee the development and execution of staff training initiatives, ensuring program directors and staff are knowledgeable about licensing standards and YMCA program expectations.
- Collaborate with Youth Development leadership to monitor program compliance, audit documentation, and ensure all activities align with regulatory and YMCA standards.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of all program documentation and compliance reports, holding program directors accountable for meeting deadlines.
- Support the resolution of complex issues at program sites, providing guidance on escalated parent concerns, school partnerships, and youth behavior incidents.
