POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position serves the School of Education, Leadership, Health, and Humanities. The School Assistant provides comprehensive administrative support to the School to ensure its smooth operation.
The School Assistant performs a wide range of administrative tasks, using independent judgment and decision-making. The School Assistant is responsible for undertaking assigned projects with minimal guidance; collecting and compiling information for report preparation; developing reports as needed; developing instructional guides and manuals related to the SLI, OWP, and ASC programs; developing guidelines and procedures for the SLI, OWP, and ASC program support; general office management; facilitating setup and orientation of new full-time and adjunct faculty; coordinating events (catering, parking, facilities, etc.); keeping web information updated; assisting with course scheduling and catalog updates; hiring, training and directing student workers; supports student advising; and ordering and organizing supplies and office equipment.
The School Assistant is the main point of contact in the school for current and prospective students in English Studies, Spanish and American Sign Language, and Philosophy and serves as the liaison between school programs and other work groups, both on and off campus.
Minimum Requirements
- Three years of office experience which included two years at full performance level and experience generating documents; and
- Lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures
Preferred Requirements
- Written Communication: Experience writing memos, correspondence and reports. Proofreading and editing written communications.
- Public Contact: Exeperience answering inquiries for information, obtaining information from others, explaining rules and regulations, receiving and resolving complaints.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, Adobe, Workday
- General bookkeeping experience.
