What’s unique about this role?

Receives, records, stores, and safeguards evidence collected for Forensic investigations and/or litigation. Prepares records of articles according to chain of custody procedures and maintains evidence database. Releases evidence being retained to designated party for court presentation or other disposition. Maintains storage facility and coordinates proper disposal of sensitive materials including desktop/laptop computers, hard drives, CD/DVDs, etc. Support all shipping and receiving needs when needed.

What will this person do?

Evidence Management

  • Store, safeguard, and maintain all media/evidence in a storage facility
  • Perform monthly audits of the evidence database and storage facility, including chain of custody documentation
  • Releases evidence being retained to designated parties for court presentation or other disposition
  • Proactively communicate with the Client Services team regarding physical media that needs attention. Action items: 1) returned to client, 2) where action is needed, and 3) when media is ready for destruction
  • Oversee the destruction of physical media/evidence as needed

Intake Support

  • Support the Intake team by assisting with the Intake queue as needed (data archiving and decommission requests)
  • Assist with hardware and software updates on Intake workstations

Administrative Tasks

  • Order and maintain an adequate supply of hard drives, CD/DVDs, media tracking labels, etc. This includes RMA of bad drives.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all hard drives in a database
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized media room at all times
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
  • Requires 1-3 years of related experience
  • Complete evidence handling training within first three months of hire date
  • Keen eye for detail, accuracy, and organization – this is an absolute “must have”
  • Ability to solve problems, prioritize, and multi-task in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with customer service focus
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Full knowledge of current chain of custody procedures
  • Self-motivated, self-directed and the ability to take initiative and solve problems
  • Knowledge of all shipping vendor procedures (FedEx, UPS, USPS, Courier, etc.)

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Duties are performed in a typical office environment while at a desk or computer table.
  • Duties require the ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material, in a quiet and professional setting.
  • Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).

Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location, or other relevant factors. The salary range for this position may be tailored to be lower or higher in different talent markets.

 

The expected pay for this role will range from $52,000 to $65,000 per year.  This role will be eligible to participate in an annual bonus or incentive program.
