Job Description:  

This position is responsible for managing a portfolio of public works projects with varying scopes and development responsibilities within the Multimodal Program from inception to completion. The Senior Project Manager’s portfolio will consist of the following:

• Locally administered projects, developed in partnership with public officials, and/or private entities. Locally administered projects will comprise approximately 10 to 20% of the Project Manager’s portfolio.
• MaineDOT in-house projects. The remainder of the Senior Project Manager’s portfolio will consist of in-house projects of moderate to high complexity.

The Senior Project Manager is expected to be able to deliver projects which are of a high degree of visibility, and/or complexity in the areas of environmental, right-of-way, utility involvement, and public process.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Facilitating and fostering communication with team members, consultants, public town officials, MaineDOT Regional management, and other stakeholder groups in order to discuss on-going project issues and resolve problems,
• Actively monitoring scope, schedule, and budget of each project, and recommend correction action as needed,
• Overseeing and providing guidance to public officials and private businesses which have entered into agreement with the Department to develop a local or business-related project, and,
• Ensuring project conformance with MaineDOT standards and policies.

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for organizing and presenting projects at preliminary and formal public hearings, and coordinating with the MaineDOT Communications Office, as required. This position is responsible for directing and overseeing consultants and internal staff. This position will manage a Project Manager or other members of the Program as assigned. Oversight and/or supervision may also be exercised other over technical, engineering and professional personnel.

To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:

Registered as a Professional Engineer and at least one (1) year of project management experience at the professional level -OR- 12 years of technical engineering experience with at least three years of project management experience.

Preference will be given to those with a Professional Engineers License.
