Capability Area Overview

Safety, Operational Compliance & Training is responsible for ensuring Metrea operates safely, compliantly, and to the highest professional standards across all domains. The team manages the Integrated Management System (IMS), which combines an ICAO Annex 19-compliant Safety Management Systems with enterprise-wide ISO certifications, including Quality (ISO 9001), Information Security (ISO 27001), Environmental (ISO 14001), Health & Safety (ISO 45001), and Aviation QMS (AS9100). SOCT oversees the implementation of these frameworks and delivers training programs that embed compliance and operational excellence across the business. By safeguarding our license to operate and enabling access to regulated markets, SOCT drives both risk mitigation and strategic growth.

Position Summary

The Lead Compliance Auditor manages Metrea’s internal audit program across all entities, Groups, and Capability Areas within the scope of the IMS. This role ensures compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, AS9100) and the SMS, safeguarding certifications and operational integrity while also driving effective and efficient operations. Using the iQSMS platform, the auditor plans and executes audits, verifies compliance across all IMS tiers, and drives corrective actions to maintain our licence to operate and competitive advantage. The auditor will assist in developing, maintaining, and improving the operational and compliance environments, acting as a coach and mentor for teams to support successful operations. 

Role and Responsibilities 

  • Develop and maintain an annual risk-based audit plan covering IMS requirements (SMS + ISO standards).
  • Conduct internal audits (on-site and remote) in line with ISO 19011, including planning, execution, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Verify compliance across all IMS tiers by ensuring policies, procedures, and evidence are in place and effective:
    1. Tier 1: Leadership commitments, policies, objectives, and SMS integration.
    2. Tier 2: Localized SOPs, process maps, continuous improvement and risk controls.
    3. Tier 3: Records, logs, training certificates, and audit reports demonstrating real-world compliance.
  • Issue non-conformities, non-compliances, opportunities for improvement and strengths. Track corrective actions to closure.
  • Assist in the preparation for external registrar audits, acting as the primary liaison and ensuring readiness.
  • Work closely with Compliance Management Representatives to ensure they are trained, competent, and supported in managing day-to-day compliance.
  • Use a safety and compliance management system to manage audit schedules, findings, corrective actions, and compliance documentation across all entities.
  • Provide audit reports, trend analysis, and insights for Management Review and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support auditor training and competence development across the enterprise.
  • Stay current with changes to ISO standards, SMS requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Supplement audits for operational compliance with Government contractor flight and ground operations procedures. 
  • Support Audits for compliance to various Federal Acquisition Requirements across operational units including cybersecurity controls, incident reporting, and CMMC readiness. 
  • Evaluate production and sustainment operations against DoD Producibility and Manufacturability standards and FAA best practices. 
  • Identify opportunities for improvement during audits and report them for action.

Skills and Experience 

Essential

  • Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 (minimum); experience with ISO 27001 and AS9100.
