About the role

As a Sr. Business Process Engineer, you’ll play a highly visible and integral role in reshaping the future of Claims processing at Chubb. You’ll partner directly with business and technical teams to modernize processes that transform what we do and how we do it, across the enterprise. What does that mean for your day to day? You’ll dig deep across a variety of projects and functions within your assigned domain(s) to understand the current as-is state and lead teams to develop and drive future-state strategies that transform the customer experience and business operations within a digital framework. You’ll conduct analysis to deepen the understanding of customer expectations/requirements, and then conduct root cause analysis to determine how to best address gaps, while optimizing for shareholder value. You’ll engage with business leadership within and across teams to understand and incorporate nuances that could influence the process optimization strategies you’ll suggest going forward. You’ll have the opportunity to see your suggestions implemented as you partner with the execution teams, who turn your strategic plans into the processes and solutions by which we’ll operate.

In this role, you will:

  • Drive product and process improvements by understanding current state and target state models and products and proposing modifications or re-engineering initiatives that optimize and/or digitize and simplify the operating model and improve the customer experience
  • Understand critical data processes and technology components to identify critical gaps and/or opportunities; devise a plan to address any such gaps
  • Partner with Product Owners and Business Leadership team to provide insights related to process engineering initiatives to ensure successful business outcomes
  • Establish consistent standards and practices across the business re-engineering discipline
  • Leverage feedback channels and process metrics to identify areas of improvement that drive simplified products, create repeatable processes, streamline, and simplify systems, improve the customer experience, and reduce issues and pain points
  • Foster strong relationships with Sales, Underwriting, Operations, and Claim’s functions to collect stakeholder input and ensure the adoption of optimized business processes
  • Conduct comprehensive current state diagnostics to understand and document customer gaps, process pain points and opportunities to optimize on cost, value add activities and the operating model
  • Identify opportunities to optimize resource throughput and capacity utilization
  • Support the development of execution roadmaps in partnership with the Agile business teams, to reach the desired target state business processes
  • Coach and mentor business partners and peers on re-engineering best practices to measure, monitor and manage processes 
  • Operate in an Agile environment and on Scrum team(s) – participating in ceremonies as needed
  • Influence at multiple levels on relevant issues and challenges and secure buy-in
  • Role model proactive self-development to continuously raise the bar on your skills and qualifications 

Qualifications & Requirements: 

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Engineering (preferably, Industrial or Management), Business, or a related discipline; experience may substitute for education
  • 7+ years’ experience as a practitioner in operational effectiveness, process engineering, and continuous improvement, with demonstrated track record of quantified and delivered results in a matrixed, regulated, and resource-constrained environment
  • Ability to collaborate and navigate across various levels of the organization to ascertain stakeholder needs and transform them into solutions that create value for customers and stakeholders
  • Experience in insurance underwriting, operations, product, or claims roles is a plus
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certified, or other related process engineering certifications is a plus
  • Fluent with documenting processes – value stream maps (VSM), and/or swim lane process maps 
  • Fluent in developing metrics, management reporting, KPIs, OKRs and ensuring their alignment to strategic objectives – adhering to the “Less is More” mantra!
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to details/accuracy (comfortable and proficient with basic statistical analysis)
  • Expert problem-solving, critical thinking and data driven decision making skills in support of the organization’s strategic objectives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Agile certifications and experience as an agile coach, scrum master or product owner a plus
  • Fluent with Change Management Practices to help ensure adoption & buy-in
  • Proficien
