About the role
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of technical experience in network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, HTTP/S), routing, load balancing, or distributed traffic serving architectures.
- 3 years of experience in managing technical teams.
- 3 years of experience managing operational incident response and participating in or supervising on-call rotations.
- Experience programming in one of the following languages: C, C++, Java, Python, or Go.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- 5 years of engineering management experience, with a proven track record of managing executive individual contributors or managing other managers.
- Experience shifting operational engineering teams from reactive interrupt-driven workflows to automated, intelligence-driven defense models.
- Demonstrated executive presence and ability to communicate complex, high-stakes security incidents calmly and decisively to engineering VPs, Directors, and enterprise Cloud customers.
- Extensive background in Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) incident response, malware analysis/reverse engineering, botnet tracking, WAF administration, or threat intelligence pipelines.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Google Cloud's services—both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems—have reliability, uptime appropriate to customer's needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally SRE’s will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance.Much of our software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation. On the SRE team, you’ll have the opportunity to manage the complex challenges of scale which are unique to Google Cloud, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis and large-scale system design. In this role, you will manage a distributed engineering team, oversee real-time incident response, and lead DoSSec's evolution from reactive mitigation into proactive threat intelligence, adversary research, and automated disruption.
