Job Title: Clinical Nutrition Specialist / Registered Dietitian
Department: Food and Nutrition
Location: Lipson Cancer Institute
Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm, no weekends
Position Summary:
Provides nutritional care of at risk patients/residents and acts as a consultant to other health care professionals in determining the best nutritional care options for their patients/residents.
Key Responsibilities:
•Maintains QI data in clinical area of expertise to assure that quality standards are maintained. Develop a minimum of one performance area every 1 months.
•Keep abreast of advances in nutrition care by participating in and contributing to in-service education by maintaining a professional portfolio that demonstrates knowledge and skills that promote continued competency. Take an active role in identifying professional development as it relates to specialty and demonstrate increasing competency by providing (at a minimum) one in-service to a multidisciplinary group each year.
•Complete Nutritional Assessments for all At Risk patients. Provides oversight to diet technicians in providing resident/patient care as applicable. Develops plan of care per clinical data, interview, diagnosis and treatment goals.
•Quality in Practice: Provide recommendations for formulations, rate and volume for all tube fed and TPN patents, per Nutrition Support policy. Attends or provides input into Nutrition Support Service rounds for all residents/patients assigned, including QA data.
•Provision of service: Demonstrates competency in providing nutrition care to all Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patient populations (as applicable). Demonstrates an understanding of the regulatory requirements for nutrition care.
•Monitors patient progress and follows up per policies and standards of practice. Documents in resident/patient record all interventions provided including diet instructions per hospital policies and standards.
•Maintains the highest level of customer service as outlined by departmental and RGHS standards.
•Communication and application of knowledge: Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with medical and nursing staff. Promotes the goals and standards of nutritional care at patient rounds, care conferences, hospital committees, pathway development, collaborative practice, etc.
•Utilizes DFM and/or established diet office procedures to ensure patients receive the appropriate foods based n preferences and prescriber orders as applicable.
•Continued Competence and Professional Accountability: Keeps abreast of advances in nutrition care by participating in and contributing to in-service education as well as engaging in life long learning by maintaining a professional portfolio that demonstrates knowledge and skills that promote continued competency in employed area.
•Utilizes DFM and/or established diet office procedures to ensure patients receive the appropriate foods based n preferences and prescriber orders as applicable.

Minimum Qualifications:
• 1 year of clinical nutrition experience as a Registered Dietitian required.
• Bachelor’s Degree from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) accredited program required.
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
• Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
