LTC Lead Pharmacist - (On-Site)

Overview
Symbria Rx Services is currently seeking a Lead Pharmacist. The primary purpose of the Lead Pharmacist is to lead assigned staff, as well as, during scheduled shifts, provide workflow direction to other on-duty staff pharmacists, in accordance with current state, federal, and local legal requirements, applicable policies, procedures, while safeguarding patient safety.

Responsibilities
- Supervise Staff Pharmacists.
- Leads and/or coordinates shift operations of assigned staff, activities, resources, and/or policies and procedures. Assign daily tasks as needed and effectively prioritize work to assure that all required medications, supplies, and services are provided correctly and completely within the defined time schedules.
- Assist Pharmacist-In-Charge with pharmacist work schedules including assignments, job rotation, vacations and paid time off, telecommuting, cover for absenteeism, and overtime scheduling.
- Research and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies via workflow modifications or technology.
- Test new versions of pharmacy software presented by the Information Technology department.
- Assist Pharmacy Manager in special projects related to establishing long-term goals.
- Perform all principle functions and responsibilities of the Staff Pharmacist role:
- Interpret and assess new and refill order requests accurately to recommend therapy adjustments based on patient status, lab work, and culture results.
- Monitor Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) lab work, recommend dosing adjustments when appropriate, communicate with nursing staff and prescribers, enter orders into the pharmacy software, and coordinate deliveries to communities.
- Provide physicians, nursing staff, and public with drug information such as drug selection, dosage, proper administration, etc.
- Counsel patients and review medications using audio/visual technology for tele-pharmacy.
- Maintain established goals for initial and final review productivity levels, which meets operational needs and ensures deliveries leave as scheduled.
- Provide “On Call” coverage as needed.
Department Management

- Make business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures in partnership with management.
- Review performance data that includes financial, sales, and activity reports and spreadsheets, to monitor and measure departmental productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness.
- Communicate regularly with other managers, department heads and other designated contacts within the company.
- Communicate corporate and company policies and procedures to staff members.
Human Resources Management
- Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals. Work with Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees.
- Provide oversight and direction to the employees in the department in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
- Coach, mentor, train and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delgate responsibiity and expect accountability and regular feedback.
