Function/Duties of Position
We are seeking a part-time research assistant to assist with multiple ongoing clinical research studies in people with cancer. The individual in this position needs to be highly motivated and interested in being a key member of a research team studying the impact of cancer treatment and exercise on the health and survival of people with cancer. This person will work directly under the study project managers to assist in data entry, collection, sample retrieval, and data quality control.
In general, the responsibilities for this research assistant position are to review study surveys and other data streams for completeness and errors, work with the study team to resolve missing/erroneous data, assist with data collection/retrieval as needed, assist with REDCap projects, and help with other data-related tasks. It is expected that this person will be able to work with general supervision and ensure that tasks are completed accurately and on time. S/he will need to communicate any problems and concerns to the Project Directors or other team members. Additional tasks related to the conduct and dissemination of clinical research may arise. The ideal candidate will have experience performing data management activities in a clinical research setting; working with computer databases such as Excel, and programs such as REDCap, excellent organization and data management skills, high attention to detail and tolerance for mundane computer related activities without losing focus, excellent oral/written communication skills, can identify and help solve problems, and thrive in a team environment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's in any field OR Associate's AND 1 years of relevant experience OR 2 years of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experience
Ability to attend to details and complete assignments with minimal direction
Experience working with Word, Excel, and other MS Office programs
Data collection, entry and cleaning experience
Experience with RedCap, ONCORE and other OHSU systems
Excellent verbal communication skills in English language
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in exercise science, health promotion, nutrition, health education, nursing or related field
Prior experience conducting research at OHSU
