Career and Technical Education Teacher Administrative Office Specialist/Career Prep – 70044263

 

 

This advertisement is for a Career Service Located at Sumter Correctional Institution in the Education Department. This position is for a Career and Technical Education (CTE) teaching position in Administrative Office Specialist/Career Prep.

 

Salary Rate: $51,500.02 annually

  • Applicants in possession of a master’s degree (official transcripts) may be eligible for an additional $1,499.94 annually.
  • Possession of a temporary or professional teaching certificate may be eligible for a one-time $1,000 hiring bonus.

 

SALARY WILL BE APPLIED IN ACCORDANCE WITH PAY POLICY. THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE APPOINTED AT THE ABOVE LISTED APPOINTMENT RATE.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent in this position is responsible for teaching the assigned career and technical subject(s) to students at a correctional institution/facility. Duties include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Plans, develops, and conducts classes in the assigned subject(s).
  • Utilizes various teaching techniques and activities to assist students with their educational advancement.
  • Responsible for the supervision of inmates assigned to the class.
  • Conducts roll calls, counts, and maintaining attendance records.
  • Ensures that order and discipline, tool control, and safety are maintained in the classroom and/or shop.
  • Continually evaluates students and makes determinations as to overall progress.
  • Administers grades and evaluates tests.
  • Counsels and advises individuals regarding their program progress, behavior, or personal concern.
  • Participates in staff meetings, seminars, and workshops to identify needed curriculum changes and to facilitate professional development.
  • Assists in budget preparation and processing purchase requests for the education program.
