This position will direct the compliance team responsible for both the Property & Casualty Personal Lines and Nationwide Pet lines of business. As such, a deep expertise in personal lines and/or pet insurance is preferred. This role requires confirming adherence to all relevant regulations and leading compliance initiatives across these business areas. Strong regulatory knowledge and leadership skills are essential.

We are seeking a dynamic leader with exceptional people leadership skills and a strong bias for action. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in compliance practices.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proven in-depth working knowledge of insurance products and policy provisions as well as knowledgeable of state and federal rules and regulations as applicable to the position.

Reports Relationship: Reports to VP, Chief Compliance Officer – Property & Casualty.

Property and casualty licenses/certifications/designations are highly desirable.

Location: This role is open to working in a Remote/Work-From-Home (WFH) capacity but prefer candidate to live near a corporate office to attend meetings in person as needed.

As a Senior Compliance Director, you will collaborate with our business partners to ensure business operations are conducted in compliance with regulatory, legal and organizational requirements. You’ll direct a team of hard-working associates who are responsible for supporting business operations through the creation and maintenance of policies and procedures, training and communications, and coordination of the legislative and regulatory review and implementation program.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads, engages and inspires a team of compliance associates who perform the activities of a corporate compliance program to support and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

  • Partners with business to ensure objectives and strategies are aligned with regulatory requirements, maintaining in-depth business knowledge to ensure appropriate compliance oversight.

  • Counsels business on compliance standards and emerging compliance issues. Collaborates with business unit leaders on the most complex compliance matters. Maintains a strong leadership presence in the business to cultivate an environment where our business partners comfortably seek guidance on compliance matters.

  • Develops, documents and maintains a program that includes risk assessments, development and maintenance of applicable policies, procedures and guidelines and monitoring, testing and reporting protocols that are appropriately tailored to prevent and detect compliance risks. Assesses the design and adequacy of functional compliance policies, procedures, training and objectives to ensure effectiveness of compliance program.

  • Monitors compliance and regulatory industry trends. Accountable for proactively communicating regulatory changes and their impacts, and proposing solutions to ensure compliance.
