Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is looking to hire KIDS U Camp Counselors for Summer 2026.
Responsibilities
- Greet campers each morning and assist with check-in and check-out procedures
- Assist camp instructors with various camp activities as instructed
- Engage with campers throughout the day, ensuring their safety while creating an enjoyable experience
- Monitor and manage camper behavior and initiate communication with camp staff (instructors, camp manager) regarding behavior issues, emergencies, injuries, and other issues
- Supervise campers during all camp activities
Required Qualifications
- Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno;
- Candidate must be at least eighteen years of age;
- Candidate must believe in the individual worth of each camper;
- Candidate must have the ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Candidate must be dependable by showing punctuality;
- Candidate must be fingerprinted at the expense of the University if hired;
- Candidate must attend basic first aid and CPR training at the expense of the University or provide evidence of prior training if hired (must renew every 2 years);
- Candidate must complete the counselor orientation and all of the training included in orientation which include bloodborne pathogens, child safety, and sexual harassment before the came start date of June 15, 2026;
- Candidate must be able to work 25-40 during the week they are scheduled between June 15 and August 7, 2026.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education majors with youth camp experience are preferred
- Experience working with children is preferred
Schedule
25-40 hours a week between the hours of 7:30am and 5:00pm, Monday-Friday
Compensation Grade
$15.00 per hour
