Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Anesthesia Team Lead to join the team. This role will be full-time variable shift 36 hours per week with weekends.

Job Responsibilities 

 

  • Successfully completes at least 16 non-mandatory continuing education units and provides documented evidence to the department for the evaluation year and successfully completes all of the departmental, hospital and system competencies required for job category with the designated time frame. Organizes two educational staff meetings per year. Supports the advancement of the anesthesia tech profession by leading at least two system, hospital, department, or professional initiatives (policies/procedures, research, formal in-service training, skills lab, competencies, etc.) during the evaluation year.
  • Demonstrates competency and adherence to department education and training, standard works, and ASATT scope of practice.
  • Consistently demonstrates knowledge, understanding and operational familiarity in relation to equipment used in patient care. Ensures equipment and supplies are maintained to provide all department leadership services.
  • Ensures specialty charge checklist is updated as needed and completed daily.
  • Attends weekly Anesthesia Tech leadership meetings. Provides input to the Anesthesia Tech Leadership Team concerning the coordinating/administering of probationary/discipline reviews within department.
  • Ensures weekend, evening, and nightshift staff execute and are educated to specialty processes and equipment.
  • Recognizes and ensures regulatory compliance is maintained through knowledge of policies, documentation records, and guidelines.
  • Routinely adapts staffing and resource allocation to maximize care and minimize problems/complications.
  • Responsible for orientation and training of staff specific to specialty area.
  • Serves as a mentor and teacher of clinical staff. Takes ownership for skills of clinical staff. Develops and advances clinical skills of staff working in specialty area.
  • Consistently communicates with healthcare members on the plan of care, and does so in a manner consistent with the Inova standards.
  • Consistently performs and maintains specialty area audits. Responsible for inventory and daily checks of emergency carts and specialty carts. Executes and documents monthly expired product checks.
  • Transports medications from pharmacy or authorized location (e.g. pneumatic tube system) to licensed healthcare professional.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.



Additional Requirements 

Education - High School or GED 

Experience - 2 Plus years in anesthesiology to include leadership or providing direction to other team members. 

Certification - BLS from AHA Upon Start

Work Schedule - 36 Hours per week variable shifts with weekends
