Position Description
The Anoka County Community Social Services and Behavioral Health Department is currently hiring for an Associate Social Worker in the Behavioral Health Intake service area. This role is responsible for providing triage, screening, and intake assessments for individuals referred to the Behavioral Health Intake unit. The unit serves both adults and children and families by offering early intervention and resource navigation for up to 180 days. Using a person-centered approach, the primary goal is to meet individuals where they are and assess their needs. During this period, social workers coordinate access to appropriate county and community services tailored to each individual or family's mental health and social service needs. When necessary, individuals are transferred to ongoing service teams for continued support. Behavioral Health Intake services are open to all Anoka County residents, regardless of age, income, diagnosis, or insurance status. Referrals are accepted from a wide range of sources, including hospitals, treatment facilities, outpatient clinics, schools, and law enforcement agencies.

This is a temporary, non-exempt, hybrid position. Interviews will tentatively take place the weeks of July 7th, 2025, and July 14th, 2025, for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.
Pay & Benefits
Salary: $29.24 to $35.08 per hour.
2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 32: $29.24 to $40.92 per hour.

Work Location
This position will work at the Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN 55303.
This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.
Expected work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provide courteous and respectful service as the initial point of contact for individuals and community providers referred to the Behavioral Health department.
Update individuals/referral sources on service eligibility, next steps, and estimated timelines.
Assess needs of callers, triage calls, provide education on service options available, and facilitate referrals to appropriate programs.
Provide education and assistance as needed to help connect individuals to community resources or benefit exploration.
Gather records and assessment information as needed to determine eligibility for specific programs.
Collaborate with internal programs and departments to promptly process and facilitate referrals received through phone, email, or the website.
Develop and manage systems to track incoming calls, assess service needs, manage data, and create waitlists when necessary.
Use and navigate SSIS and OnBase for timely completion of needed paperwork, case notes, court and/or legal documents, hospital records, assessments etc.
Receive cross-training in various workflows including (but not limited to) the Pre-Petition Screening process, Intake Screening Process to provide coverage and support as needed during business hours.
Assist in the creation of cases in our statewide system, SSIS, as well as case closings upon discharge from services.
Monitor and index incoming faxes for the Mental Health Intake Unit into OnBase and monitor group Voice Mails as needed.
