The Department of Economic Security, Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) strengthens Arizona communities by bridging and minimizing gaps to employment and independence.

DES is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Business Intelligence Analyst Intermediate working with the Finance and Business Operations Administration (FBOA). This position is responsible for extracting, analyzing, and interpreting data from a variety of systems and sources to support data informed decision making across the division and its programs. The position plays a key role in connecting disparate data sources, uncovering patterns, and identifying gaps in data collection or usage. The analyst must be comfortable working within multiple internal IT systems, transforming raw data into usable formats, and exploring new tools and methods that improve analytical capacity.

Travel will be required for State business. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on State business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on State business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code [A.A.C.] R2-10-207.11).

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Performs analysis using statistical, exploratory, and descriptive techniques to identify trends, relationships, and anomalies within datasets that support data-informed decision-making.
• Documents methodologies, assumptions, and data sources used in analysis to ensure transparency and consistency across the team.
• Collaborates with stakeholders to identify analytical needs, clarify requirements, and develop appropriate metrics, reports, and visualizations that support the program and division's goals.
• Extracts, transforms, and integrates data from various internal systems, spreadsheets, and external sources for use in analysis and reporting.
• Identifies opportunities to improve data capture and usability.
• Assists in performing data quality checks and assessments, identifying data integrity issues and collaborating with program and/or technical staff to address them.
