We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments. (Note: For EpiSci job openings, fully remote work will be considered by exception.)

About the role

As Head of Strategic Finance, you'll partner closely with Applied Intuition’s CFO and executive team to lead budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning and analysis that support our growth ambitions. You’ll drive investment decisions by crafting business cases, evaluating M&A opportunities, and optimizing capital allocation. You’ll refine and own reporting frameworks, KPI scorecards, and monthly financial reviews to enhance visibility and operational accountability.

At Applied Intuition, you will:

• Own financial planning & analysis (FP&A) and strategic finance to drive smart capital-allocation decisions and enable business growth
• Lead our Strategic Finance team to support the vertical markets we serve today and help evaluate new ones
• Develop, maintain, and present complex financial models, business cases, and investment theses for growth initiatives, M&A targets, joint ventures, and capital projects
• Partner cross-functionally with function leads, the executive team, and the Board to align financial strategies with business objectives and market opportunities
• Get pricing and business models in place for new products and datasets, making sure we hit our revenue & margin goals
• Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on data-driven analysis to optimize asset allocation, investment decisions, and operational efficiency
• Drive process enhancements by implementing robust forecasting tools, systems, and frameworks to enhance visibility, transparency, and continuous improvement across the finance function

We’re looking for someone who has:

• 10+ years in corporate finance, investment banking, private equity, or strategic finance
• Experience leading a high visibility finance team
• Expert-level proficiency in financial modeling and business intelligence tools;  capable of building complex models
• Strong executive presence and communications skills; has collaborated with C-suite stakeholders (CFO, CEO, function leaders) and board directors
• Ability to synthesize data and market trends into strategic insights, drive capital allocation decisions
• Implemented forecasting/reporting systems, streamlining workflows, and modernizing tools

Nice to have:

• Experience in the automotive, defense, or industrial sectors
• Capital markets experience as either an investment banker, issuer, or investor
• M&A experience

Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a single component of the total compensation package, which may also include equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on jurisdiction of employment.

Applied Intuition pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum intended target base salary for new hire salaries for the position. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, interview performance, and the level and scope of the position.
