You will focus on developing advanced materials and devices for near-eye displays, and will become part of a team exploring novel concepts through design, modeling, and fast-iterative prototyping. Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. - Demonstrate feasibility of bench-top equipment and formulation for novel polymer film, fiber, and composite processes.
- Develop polymer film and fiber pilot-scale processes with a cross-functional team.
- Identify film and fiber applications in the AR/VR and haptics systems, and be able to prototype the applications.
- Drive XFN teams collaborations to achieve success from R&D to product.
- Lead vendor engagement.
- Independently drive deliverables.
- Collaborate in a team environment across a diverse set of disciplines including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, and Optics.
- Ph.D. degree or equivalent experience in Polymer Physics, Polymer Material, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years work experience in Materials Science or a related field.
- Experience with thermoplastic polymer film and fiber laboratory work and scale-up.
- Experience with optical films and films lamination.
- Experience with polymer characterization and failure analysis.
- Experience with internal and external cross-functional team work and vendor engagement.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven track record of delivering research to product.
- Experience with fiber composite molding.
- Experience of gel-casting.
