Kentro is hiring a Software Developer to join the Portfolio Operations team and support the execution of a large-scale, multi-year contract to the Integrated Personnel and Pay System–Army (IPPS-A) Army Military Payroll (AMP). The Developer’s key responsibility will be ensuring the accuracy and integrity of payroll data through rigorous testing and validation processes and compliance with the customer's policies and legal regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Writing basic queries
- Create or update data conversion programs
- Run payrolls for comparison/reconciliation testing
- Create comprehensive test plans
- Data Analytics and Validation - verify the accuracy of employee data, pay rates, and deductions. Reconcile pay results between systems
- Regression Testing - ensure that new code or changes do not introduce errors into existing payroll functionality
- Problem Solving - identify, analyze, and resolve issues or discrepancies in payroll data or processes; categorize variances
- Conduct peer reviews on other teammates’ configurations and code to ensure accuracy and alignment with the overall architecture and design. Document software configurations in prescribed documentation tool(s)
- Conduct unit testing in line with defined quality engineering processes
- Conduct software development activities in support of application enhancements and system defects
- Documentation - maintain thorough documentation of test plans, results, and resolutions
Location: Arlington, VA, and Crystal City, VA area (Hybrid with minimum of 3 days on site).
Salary Range: Factors influencing pay include geography, market demand, skills, education, experience, and the successful candidate's other qualifications.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Software or Engineering major, or 1 or more years of experience within the federal government, DoD, Army, or IC preferred.
- Minimum 1+ year of experience working in a computer software-related field
- Strong communication skills required.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SQL
- Create technical design specifications
- Experience with additional programming languages (Python, Java, .NET)
- Experience with database management systems
- Strong understanding of data validation techniques
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining oversight
Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:
