Job Overview

Engineer Associate for the Traffic Management Center (TMC) responsible for monitoring traffic conditions, perform traffic engineering data analysis, traffic signal timing and operations investigations and adjustment support, and TMC Initiatives.

Meet service level targets and expectations in relation to Traffic Management while complying with signal safety and operations requirements.

This position performs paraprofessional engineering related work involving the investigation, evaluation, assessment, asset management, planning, writing reports, coordinating work, or inspection of public infrastructure and systems. Project management responsibility involves Transportation or Traffic Management projects.
Support Engineers to analyze, assess, and interpret data, conditions, and systems to plan and execute traffic signal retiming projects, covering the data collection phase through the project reporting phase
 

Support development and implementation strategies for improving arterial traffic flow and safety, prepare the development of system- performance measurement tools, standard operating policies/procedures, deficiency reports and mitigation plans, coordinate with local agencies related to the operation and maintenance of traffic signals and arterial systems
 

Provide traffic operations support through the performance of on-site signal timing implementation and fine-tuning, and review of existing traffic operations issues.
Use and apply engineering tools available such as TSM&O performance monitoring platforms and signal performance measures (SPM)platforms
Interact professionally and proactively with clients to ensure clients are highly satisfied
Maintain knowledge of Advanced Transportation Management System (ATMS) platforms, optimization software, and analysis software to ensure technical competence
Closely coordinate with other department groups as needed.
Perform a mix of both field and office work task activities. Field work will require work in typical climate conditions in Florida. Perform duties in the field including maintaining equipment, troubleshooting failures, making signal timing changes, and performing data collection activities.

Salary

Min $62,088.00 annually

Mid $85,404.80 annually

  • Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices to the planning, design support, construction, assessment, asset management, and maintenance of multiple municipal projects, or portions of major projects; resolves conflicts and ensures compliance with permits and regulations; prepares and monitors scopes, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Provides engineering support in the design of complete projects, systems, components of processes, including project documents.
  • Drafts or revises plans and drawings utilizing computer-aide
