Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD), a Fortune 500 leader in industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for an experienced Maintenance Technician at its Port Arthur, Texas facility.

Our Maintenance Technicians are responsible for planning and executing routine mechanical maintenance activities through the SAP maintenance program, as well as performing non-routine maintenance as needed to support safe and reliable plant operations.

The Maintenance Technician provides hands-on mechanical support and performs a variety of maintenance activities on critical rotating and stationary equipment, including compressors, turbines, heat exchangers, pumps, pressure relief valves, and pressure systems used in continuous plant operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on a variety of pumps, compressors, and turbines.
  • Ensure all plant mechanical equipment is maintained in a safe and reliable condition to consistently achieve performance targets.
  • Perform assigned critical activities in compliance with Process Safety requirements.
  • Maintain maintenance records, document investigation findings, and prepare relevant reports.
  • Collaborate with technical staff and plant management to resolve plant and equipment issues safely and effectively.
  • Oversee contractors to ensure work is completed in accordance with company standards and requirements.
  • Initiate purchasing requests as needed to maintain adequate inventory of replacement parts and supplies.
  • Perform non-routine maintenance activities as directed by the Supervisor to minimize production downtime.
  • Assist with the proper storage and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support during plant turnaround activities and execution.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a recognized mechanical apprenticeship or a trade/technical degree in a related field is highly desirable.
  • Ability to become qualified as a Crane Lift Supervisor.
  • Familiarity with compressors, turbines, multistage pumps, valves, coolers, and fans.
  • Knowledge of industry safety regulations and operating practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, as required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and SAP or other computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Ability to provide after-hours support for plant emergencies and operational/maintenance issues on a call-out basis.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call weekend rotation.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.
