The Payloads Organization within Boeing Commercial Aircraft is seeking Experienced and Senior Engineers to join our 777X Payloads Configurator Team in Everett, WA.
The Payloads Organization is responsible for everything you see when you fly; and much of which you don’t. The Interiors of the airplane, along with the cargo compartments, exterior markings, associated systems, and cabin safety all make up Payloads. We are how our airline customers fulfill their mission and represent their brand and shape how the public experiences flight Our organization is a fast paced, dynamic environment, which pulls from many engineering backgrounds.
The Payloads Configurators work with our customers, sales, supplier management, and engineering teams to define, configure, and coordinate the interior and passenger systems on every airplane from configuration to delivery. This position requires the ability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders, communicate with executive leadership and customers located around the world, and lead/influence technical teams to coordinate work and resolve emergent issues. Significant amount of domestic and international travel is required, some on short notice.
Payloads is seeking candidates with experience in the following areas:
Managing or integrating a portfolio or engineering projects in a dynamic and demanding environment
Familiarity with standard engineering practices, interface definition, design development, requirements management, engineering documentation, and option structure. Engineering support and project leadership within a production system
Direct engagement working with external stakeholders and executive leadership
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelors of Science (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering
5+ years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience
Experience leading a cross-functional team
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences
Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria and release processes
Demonstrates good problem-solving skills and critical thinking
Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development
9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Typical Education/Experience:
Experienced (Level 3)
Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation.
Senior (Level 4)
Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
