Lead EEG Technician – Full-Time - Cornell Campus

Our Epilepsy Center provides a multidisciplinary approach to the complex medical and social needs of patients with seizures. It is certified by the NYDOH to carry out long-term video-EEG monitoring and Epilepsy surgery for patients with intractable epilepsy. The lead-EEG Technician is responsible for performing the testing duties of an EEG Technician II and oversee the daily operations of the laboratory. Their responsibilities include patient safety and comfort during procedures, triaging orders, providing training to EEG technicians and serving as a resource to physicians and other technologist. This involves managing scheduling, triaging orders, quality, supplies, data management, billing and equipment. Lead EEG technician must be capable of performing collodion connections and disconnections in inpatient setting for all the long-term Epilepsy and Continuous EEG units for all age groups including neonates. As well as performing and setting up connections for intraoperative and interventional studies. Conducts long-term real time monitoring of EEG signals with scalp, depth or cortical electrodes on inpatient floors and surgical/interventional suites as directed. An opportunity to see a full range of complex cases in adults and pediatrics at a prestigious academic hospital.

 

This position is full-time, shift: Monday to Friday 7a-3p with at least 5+ rotating holidays, must do two weekend days per month.

  

Preferred Criteria

  • Minimum of 5+ years of EEG technician experience post internship and demonstrated ability to meet department competencies.

  

Required Criteria 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required 
  • Associate degree or graduation from an accredited Electroneurodiagnostic technology training program (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Accredited) OR graduation from an American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) approved Electroneurodiagnostic (END) training program.
  • Three (3) years of EEG and/or Evoked Potential studies and demonstrated ability to meet competencies of the department
  • BLS Certification
  • American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET) registry eligible 
  • Must possess an advanced knowledge of normal and abnormal EEG patterns and a working knowledge of abnormalities in diagnostic EEG and Epilepsy monitoring studies.
  • Knowledge of applicable computer operating systems and software (MS Office and Natus XLTEK).
  • Perform these studies on patients of all age groups, including neonates (Collodion).
  • Ability to work in all inpatient care settings (general, ICU, and emergency departments).
  • Proficient in data management including pruning, merging and medical records protocols preferred.
