Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Job Description
Role Purpose:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director for our Controllership Technology Group. The team objective is to lead the finance function into the future by fostering innovation, leveraging technology and ensuring compliant and secure use of technology. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between finance and our O&T organization, ensuring that our technology landscape aligns with the strategic finance roadmap and actively supporting ongoing finance transformation initiatives. We want to unlock greater value from our boundary systems and making sure that we are using these technologies responsibly. The ideal candidate will possess strong stakeholder management skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of both technology and finance.
Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across Global Controllership, Global Finance Operations, O&T, Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance and other departments to ensure alignment and collaboration.
- Act as the liaison between Global Controllership and O&T, translating finance requirements into technical solutions and vice versa. Also ensuring clear and effective communication and information flow.
- Unlock greater value from our existing boundary systems while identifying cutting-edge opportunities to leverage embedded AI/ML solutions for transformative impact.
- Ownership of O&T- and Cybersecurity-driven initiatives as part of our ongoing Finance Transformation. Support with rolling-out these projects within wider Global Controllership and specifically within our Global Finance Operations.
- Establish a robust and efficient governance process for new technology requests and enhancements, aligning FTSG priorities based on corporate and business unit strategy & imperatives, including the ongoing review of spend across finance systems.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with main technology suppliers, supporting Sourcing with negotiating contracts and ensuring service delivery meets expectations.
- Management of technology implementations, support with designing and implementing, and User Acceptance Testing.
- Foster a culture of innovation and increase automation adoption within Global Controllership.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline
- 7+ years in finance, with a preference for candidates who bring both accounting depth and a forward-thinking approach to finance technology
- Experience with ERP implementation, or implementations of new technologies
- Experience with vendor management and contract negotiation
- Accounting knowledge to understand stakeholders and the finance environment
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Confident to give project updates to Senior Leadership
- Proven ability to liaise between finance and IT teams
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making a
