Job Description:
The Manager of HPC Systems within Information Technology Services will be responsible for enabling both existing and emerging high performance computing solutions, and providing a high level of service in the deployment and maintenance of HPC supercomputer and other research enabling hardware and software to the research communities of LSU and its collaborators. The Manager will be responsible for managing the system administration group in monitoring daily cluster operations, troubleshooting cluster problems, researching and implementing new technologies, and providing appropriate support for LSU's research initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
Operations: Responsible for the management, quality, design, implementation, configuration, security, and operation of HPC cluster and other research enabling systems managed by ITS including, but not limited to, grid systems, storage systems, distributed shared systems, etc. Architect, design and implement support systems and improvements to facilitate ease of access to these resources by researchers and industry. (40%)
Supervision: Responsible for the supervision and professional development of staff required to operate and maintain HPC and other research enabling systems in ITS and support their users. Assist in resolving user support issues with other groups. Provide leadership and training to junior staff members. (30%)
Research Administration: Research and evaluate emerging technologies related to HPC hardware, software, networking, provisioning, digital imagery, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing, etc. Participate in budget planning. Provide strategic planning in the acquisition and deployment of future HPC related hardware and software resources. Represent HPC@LSU in local, regional, national, and international HPC initiatives with a high degree of professionalism. (20%)

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. 3 years Demonstrated expertise in UNIX/Linux system administration. Proficiency with a wide variety of computer technologies. Hardware experience. Ability to script using bash, perl, or python.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree with 5 years experience with HPC supercomputers, national grid infrastructures.
