POSITION OVERVIEW: Nurse Aide Training Instructor

The NAT Instructor serves as the primary educator and mentor for students enrolled in the NAT  Program. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in both classroom and clinical settings, ensuring that learners acquire the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors required for entry-level employment as Certified Nursing Assistant. The instructor plays a key role in upholding program standards, evaluating student progress, and fostering a supportive learning environment that aligns with the mission of Academy of Hope and the requirements of the DC Board of Nursing.

 

The NAT Instructor will assure regulatory compliance with state and federal instructional guidelines and commitment to the philosophy and mission of Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School (AoH).

All instructors are responsible for creating a supportive, empowering learning environment for adult learners and delivering quality content area instruction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers instruction using the established curriculum (Hartman’s Nursing Assistant Care: Long-Term Care), including lectures, presentations, quizzes, and homework assignments to support student learning and competency development.
  • Conducts daily pre- and post-conferences with students to support learning objectives and reflect on clinical experiences
  • Facilitates student participation in the program and evaluates the progress and retention of students in the program.
  • Assists with pre-screening and interviewing of Nurse Aide candidates as needed to support the selection process
  • Maintains confidential, accurate, and comprehensive records for each learner in accordance with program and regulatory standards.
  • Ensures that students learn to treat residents, families and other members of the health care team with the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individual’s needs and rights.
  • Maintain efficient and effective use of all supplies and equipment
  • Maintains regular and effective communication with students, staff, and other stakeholders to support collaboration and student success
  • Stays up-to-date with state and federal regulations and training standards to ensure program compliance and quality instruction
  • Maintains compliance with all NAT program requirements as outlined by the DC Board of Nursing, ensuring standards are met for instruction, documentation, and clinical practice
  • Maintain a clean/safe environment conducive to learning (classroom, skills lab, and clinical setting)
  • Assists students with the registration process for state board exams, ensuring timely and accurate completion of required steps
  • Meets with each student to evaluate their attendance, skills performance, and didactic, to  provide each student with suggestions for improvement and review progress.
