About the Role:
As a Stable Kernel Senior Project Manager, you play an essential role in setting our portfolio of world-class clients up for success through the on-time and on-budget development and delivery of their most innovative, transformational initiatives. You are equal parts delivery expert and trusted advisor to internal and external project stakeholders. Your positivity, candor, and effectiveness make you the Project Manager that clients request to have assigned to their projects time and again.
You are a true partner to our sales, strategy, technical, and client services professionals and collaborate with them throughout the client life cycle to ensure outstanding work, documentation, and customer experiences.
Senior Project Managers report directly to our VP of Operations or a Principal Project Manager. You may be classified as individual contributors or as people managers with individual contributor responsibilities.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Technical Impact:
- Designing and implementing solutions with an eye to the growth of the product and team, improving the speed of future work, and preserving optionality without unnecessary complications.
- Providing expert feedback that improves the overall delivery of work and defending the work against compromise and corner-cutting by having the final say in Agile processes.
- Using advanced level capabilities and supporting team members by crafting reusable solutions within the existing toolset, using tools to optimize team performance and health, and coaching others in the use of tools.
- Understanding, at a fundamental level, web technologies (e.g., APIs, cloud infrastructure, basic web architectures, native vs cross-platform mobile solutions, data structures, and databases).
- Business Alignment:
- Understanding the client's business and goals and using them to improve the definition of teams’ projects.
- Identifying opportunities to provide additional value for our clients by suggesting and delivering improvements based on observations.
- Facilitating team conversations around the estimation of work that clearly identifies gaps, risks, and assumptions.
- Understanding Agile best practices and anti-patterns
- Demonstrating the ability to manage scaled projects or programs and lead Agile engagements of different types (e.g., scrum, kanban, blended agile/fixed scope-fixed fee)
- Understanding of IT Service Management concepts (e.g., problem-incident-change management).
- Understanding SK’s service offerings, leading to identifying potential new opportunities with the client and engaging them in next steps.
- Interacting with Others:
- Coordinating with people outside your team, including product and design leadership.
- Influencing the roadmaps of other teams, especially to get work prioritized that’s required for your own team.
- Providing health status reports across multiple departments, ranging in detail up to executive level summaries, depending on the audience
- Autonomy & Ambiguity:
- Listening to client needs and expectations to determine the right approach for the work.
- Leading the effort of developing project plans, statements of work, and staffing plans.
- Incorporating team feedback to refine the approach and methodologies used.
- Determining the most effective way to break down work across the team.
- Considering and planning around cross-team dependencies.
- Showcasing a strong organizational skillset, empowering effective prioritization of challenges and solutions.
- Succeeding with ambiguity and helping the team navigate through complexities by being able to plan, structure, and execute comprehensive solutions without much input.

- Providing creative problem-solving techniques for both internal and client issues.
- Creating the shortest route to a solution by understanding who the subject matter experts are.
