CVS Health is seeking a Senior Decision Scientist to partner with Specialty Operations leaders to solve complex business problems using data, analytics, and quantitative decision-making. This is a highly consultative role focused on translating ambiguous business questions into analytical frameworks, generating actionable insights, and influencing strategic and operational decisions.

The Senior Decision Scientist will serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, combining strong statistical reasoning, business acumen, and structured problem-solving to identify opportunities for operational improvement. Rather than building production AI or machine learning systems, this role emphasizes rapid hypothesis generation, statistical analysis, experimentation, forecasting, and communicating clear recommendations that drive measurable business outcomes.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, thrives in ambiguous environments, and enjoys working directly with business leaders to solve high-impact operational challenges across CVS Specialty.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in analytics, decision science, management consulting, business analytics, data science, operations research, or a related quantitative field

  • Demonstrated experience solving complex business problems using statistical analysis and data-driven decision making

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to structure ambiguous problems into actionable analytical approaches

  • Experience conducting statistical analyses such as hypothesis testing, regression, forecasting, segmentation, and experimental design

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience using Python or R for data analysis and statistical modeling

  • Ability to synthesize large datasets into concise, actionable insights for business and executive audiences

  • Strong communication, storytelling, and presentation skills with experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders

  • Experience partnering directly with business leaders to prioritize opportunities and develop data-informed recommendations

  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in management consulting or internal strategy and analytics organizations

  • Experience supporting healthcare, pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, payer, or healthcare operations

  • Knowledge of operational performance metrics, process optimization, workforce analytics, or service operations

  • Experience designing and evaluating business experiments (A/B testing, pilot evaluations, quasi-experimental analyses)

  • Familiarity with predictive modeling techniques and machine learning concepts, with the ability to determine when these methods are appropriate for business problems

  • Experience developing executive presentations and facilitating discussions with senior leadership

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
