Maintenance Management Production Specialist - NASA Armstrong Program - Edwards AFB, CA

Description

The Maintenance Planner will coordinate plan, schedule, and organize the scheduled maintenance periods on support aircraft assigned to Armstrong Flight Research Center. This function will be responsible for synchronizing efforts between Operational Engineers, Maintenance Leadership, Flight Operations, and Logistics/Supply in the development of executable and actionable plans for scheduled aircraft maintenance repair activities.

• Plans and schedules extended downtime aerospace vehicle maintenance.
• Utilizes NAMIS for maintenance planning activities as well as the recording of completed maintenance actions.
• Develops plans and establish production schedules to meet mission requirements.
• Determines maintenance capabilities to aid in developing extended downtime maintenance schedules.
• Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual utilization schedules for known maintenance and operational mission and training requirements.
• Coordinates with directorate leadership to ensure support is available to meet schedules.
• Reconciles flying hour data with Operations and the MOC.
• Coordinates scheduled maintenance execution with the Chief of Maintenance and Flight Operations and monitors workload requirements.
• Ensures the Maintenance Operation Center (MOC) supervisor and appropriate Maintenance and Operation Branch Chiefs are advised of maintenance capabilities, limiting production factors, and adherence to maintenance schedules.
• Uses an automated system to schedule and monitor maintenance activities' workload.
• Schedules maintenance jobs, help establish work priorities, and monitors completion times.
• Collects, reviews, and files documented information for planning and scheduling maintenance actions.
• Maintains historical records for aircraft and support systems.
• Manages the system configuration, Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO), special inspection, and time change program and their related MIS.
• Ensures accurate documentation of aircraft engines, TD & TCTO, time change items, and special inspections.
• Coordinates with maintenance crews to ensure that they have the necessary tools and parts on hand to complete tasks promptly.
• Ensures that records are kept of all maintenance tasks, including the details of each task performed, the person who performed it, and the date it was completed.
• Coordinates with management to ensure that the budget for maintenance activities does not exceed available funds.
• Assist the MX Manager as required.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of aircraft, engines, and associated equipment; maintenance and automated procedures applying to planning, scheduling, and documenting; concepts and application of maintenance directives; automated system status; operational, inspection, and time change; delayed discrepancy; TCTO, TD, MD, and engine subsystems.
• Military specialized AFSC, MOS, and Rate training are preferred.

• 2-5 years USAF 2R1X1 or USN Maintenance Manager/Aircraft Records Manager or Maintenance Scheduling/Planning Management within general aviation or aerospace maintenance operations is required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Products and the ability to build spreadsheets, charts, and graphs in Excel for data compilation and predictive maintenance analysis.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work in and around aircraft hangar environment. Must be able to climb/board aircraft. Must be able to bend, stoop, balance, kneel, crouch, reach, and grasp. Must be able to walk for long distances moving from one work site to another. Must be able to work primarily with fingers such as for typing. Must be able to communicate effectively.
