Job Description

HII Mission Technologies is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician V to support the Key West Tactical Training Range with a focus on Air and Surface Tracking Systems. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading complex RF-based voice communication systems critical to live mission operations. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, leadership in system sustainment, and a proactive approach to mission readiness in a dynamic Department of Defense environment. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair all air/surface tracking and voice communications systems, including RF components, antennas, and associated cabling.

  • Ensure seamless communications between aircrew and range personnel during live training events by coordinating with Air Intercept Controllers and Range Training Officers.

  • Troubleshoot and isolate complex system anomalies; perform advanced diagnostics using tools such as spectrum analyzers, site masters, and waveform generators.

  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance, including VSWR analysis, power/frequency testing, and corrosion control on towers and equipment.

  • Implement engineering changes and configuration updates in collaboration with OEMs and internal engineering teams.

  • Document all maintenance actions, system changes, and test results in the Integrated Electronic Maintenance System (IEMS).

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior technicians; support cross-training initiatives across range systems.

  • Support installation, testing, and evaluation of new tracking and communication systems; ensure configuration control and documentation compliance.

  • Adhere to environmental, safety, and health standards, including proper PPE usage and hazard reporting.

  • Handle and safeguard classified materials in accordance with DoD security protocols.

  • Complete all required training, including Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) modules and government-mandated courses.

  • Flex work schedule as needed to support mission operations and fleet readiness.
