Summer Internship: Data Strategy & Governance Intern

BeiGene, Ltd. has proposed to change its name to BeOne Medicines Ltd. The new name is subject to shareholder approval and, once approved, use of the name will be phased in over 2025. Note: To be considered for our 2025 Summer Internship program you must be enrolled in a university degree program and cannot be graduating sooner than December 2025.

This is a hybrid role - our ideal candidate will report to our San Carlos, CA. on Tuesday and Wednesdays to work with the team. We are unable to offer relocation assistance.

Education Required:  

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, or a related field

BeOne Medicines is seeking a highly motivated and curious intern to join our Data Strategy & Governance team for Summer 2025. If you're passionate about healthcare data, excited by the potential of GenAI, and want to see your work drive real impact in a growing biopharmaceutical organization — we want to hear from you.  

You will work directly with the team responsible for acquiring and governing a variety of syndicated data assets — enabling cross-functional teams to answer key business questions across global markets. 

This internship is a unique opportunity to: 

• Work with real-world syndicated healthcare datasets 

• Help enrich metadata that powers our GenAI initiatives 

• Contribute to our internal analytics catalog that informs data use across functions, geographies, and domains. 

You’ll collaborate with stakeholders from Commercial and Medical Analytics teams, gaining hands-on experience with the end-to-end data lifecycle in a high-impact, data-driven environment. 

Essential Functions of the Job:  

• Partner with internal teams to understand metadata requirements for GenAI-enablement 

• Build and enhance metadata documentation for published tables using innovative summarization tools (LLMs, GenAI) 

• Assist in collecting/curating analytics use-cases and tagging them within our internal data catalog

• Enhance the user experience of our catalog through intuitive structures and curated lists of values 

• Build self-service analytics views for already acquired data assets to drive adoption and increase awareness across teams 

• Stay on top of GenAI and open-source innovations in metadata extraction and summarization 

• Use SQL to explore and extract data from structured views in Redshift/PostgreSQL 

• (Preferred) Apply prior knowledge of
