Provides routine network planning and technical support, installing, configuring, monitoring, modifying, testing, and maintaining UMMC Enterprise Network Systems and internet interfaces.Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required:High school or GED and one (1) year of experience in network planning, wiring, and technical support.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:
CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) must obtain post-hire within twelve (12) months.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of network hardware, software, and wiring infrastructure. Knowledge of computer/network systems infrastructure requirements and standards. Knowledge of computer security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques. Computer/network systems planning skills. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills to interact with clients, vendors, and other team members. Ability to install, configure, and maintain networks, and/or related hardware and software. Ability to identify and resolve network problems. Ability to convey technical information to non-technical personnel. Works under the direction of more senior engineers and must take direction but be able to work independently on assigned tasks.
Responsibilities:
Participates in the Formulation, development, and implementation of integrated network architectures. Participates in determining specific network hardware and software requirements such as platforms, interfaces, security systems, or routine schemas. Designs, implements, maintains, configures, and installs LAN/WAN, VOIP, and wireless system hardware, software, and services.

Monitors network performance and make modifications to achieve optimum performance. Participates in the development and administration of switches, routers, firewalls, and security systems. Identifies and recommends measures to reduce risks and mitigate potential threats.
Performs daily troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of network systems. Identifies root causes of recurring network operating problems and implements solutions or escalates problems to higher level staff as needed
