Are you a charismatic Developer Advocate with a deep passion for open source software and its communities? Do you thrive in the spotlight, love presenting and hosting events, and possess deep knowledge of cutting-edge open source technologies like Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg™, Apache Spark™, and MLflow?
As an Open Lakehouse Developer Advocate, you'll be a vital bridge between our engineering teams and the wider open source developer community. You'll empower data engineers who are building their careers, products, and services on the open source foundations of Databricks’ solutions. This role will leverage your strong expertise in the Open Lakehouse ecosystem, including Databricks' contributions like Apache Spark™, Apache Iceberg™, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and MLflow, to educate, inspire, and support a rapidly growing user base.
Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of impactful, scalable knowledge-sharing activities. You’ll deliver engaging talks at conferences and community events, host insightful panels and meetups, create informative blogs and video content that scales to a broad audience, develop comprehensive courseware, provide expert answers in community forums, and conduct one-on-one sessions with influential data engineers and scientists. These efforts will help disseminate best practices and foster a thriving, engaged Open Lakehouse community. You'll also have the opportunity to dive deep into specific open source projects, contributing directly and offering in-depth technical guidance.
Reporting to the lead of OSS Developer Relations, you’ll collaborate with fellow developer advocates and program managers to create a cohesive and impactful developer relations strategy that champions open source.

The Developer Relations (DevRel) team at Databricks is dedicated to building and fostering strong relationships with communities of data practitioners, with a particular focus on open source. Our primary goal is to drive awareness and adoption of the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform and related open source software (OSS) solutions such as Apache Spark™, Apache Iceberg™, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and MLflow.
The impact you will have:
- Evangelize and broaden awareness of Open Lakehouse as a fundamental paradigm, showcasing how to leverage powerful open lakehouse formats for analytics, ETL, and AI, with a strong emphasis on Databricks' contributions to OSS.
- Support and expand the Open Lakehouse community, including meetups and user groups, to attract tens of thousands of participants and foster a thriving, collaborative open source community.
- Foster enthusiasm for Open Lakehouse by leveraging creativity and innovation to create engaging experiences and content, welcoming novel perspectives, and stimulating discussions within the open source community.
- Enable data engineers to excel in building their data infrastructure with an Open Lakehouse architecture, highlighting the benefits of our open source solutions.
- Empower data engineers to reach their objectives and share their success stories efficiently, particularly those built on open source technologies.
- To facilitate the widespread advancement of the Open Lakehouse, create high-quality, scalable educational resources such as videos, sample notebooks, tutorials, and blog posts that highlight deep technical understanding and community best practices.
- Be the bridge between the Open Lakehouse community and Databricks engineering, ensuring all voices are heard and contributing directly to open source projects.
- Provide robust support for users across platforms like Slack, StackOverflow, and online communities to stay attuned to their feedback and requirements, actively participating and contributing to these forums.
- Continue and extend sample notebooks and code, particularly those related to the Open Lakehouse and Databricks' open source projects, demonstrating deep technical expertise.
