Job Description

The Legal Commercial Practice Group (CPG) comprises lawyers and other professionals who support various McDonald’s U.S. and Global Business Functions covering areas such as Supply Chain, Global Impact, Operations, Internal Audit, and Human Resources, primarily in connection with commercial transactions and corporate initiatives.

McDonald's is seeking a Counsel (CPG) to focus on direct supply chain transactions and clean energy procurement.

Responsibilities:

  • Offer legal and business advice for renewable energy and ESG projects, working with senior leadership.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts for specific McDonald’s departments.
  • Manage external legal counsel retained for specialized practice areas, i.e., virtual power purchase agreements, ESG.
  • Work collaboratively across various Legal and client teams, such as Global Impact, Communications, Supply Chain, Finance and Investor Relations.
  • Represent the Legal department on cross-functional project teams charged with procuring and deploying global initiatives.
  • Analyze legal risks for each initiative, consult domestic/international attorneys, offer practical advice to clients.
  • Act as the primary legal support for each project team and facilitate and lead the participation of all attorneys required for the project.
  • Develop innovative legal approaches to support strategic business initiatives and objectives.
  • Participate effectively and constructively as a member of the team.
  • Establish proactive and trustworthy relationships with clients as well as other members of the legal organization globally.
  • Work independently and efficiently under time pressures and deadlines in a dynamic, demanding environment.

The expected salary range for this role is $149,260 – $190,310 per year

Qualifications

  • JD with at least 3 years of transactional legal experience.
  • Commercial contract experience is required, including reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial relationships with major vendors. Experience with mergers and acquisitions, tax credit agreements, and/or virtual power purchase agreements is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to identify risks and to comfortably make risk recommendations and decisions, advancing where appropriate.
  • Outstanding communications and leadership skills with shown success in building internal and external partnerships.
  • Ability to be a strategic partner and trusted advisor for US and global business clients.
  • Comfortable handling a wide variety of matters, including issues in new, unchartered territory.
  • Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Experience within a global and/or franchised organization is preferred.
